香檳3 •台北

  對於設計夜店,相信林馬克的功力已經是遊刃有餘了。然而或許對於設計師與業主而言,如何在適當的經費中,挖掘新的目光焦點、新的噱頭去吸引消費者愈來愈挑剔的品味,才是必須面臨的挑戰吧。與香檳1、2截然不同的經營型態,香檳3定位為Disco Pub,強化其娛樂性,塑造一個年輕活潑的消費空間,吸引更年輕的族群,進而讓習慣香檳系列高雅愉悅格調的主要白領、雅痞客層,多了一個更能徹底解放自己的娛樂空間。

劇院的空間佈局
  為滿足這般需求,設計師林馬克順應基地本身的優勢,將挑空的樓層,轉化為類似劇院的空間佈局,藉此將空間特色徹底發揮,展現強烈的戲劇性效果。自入口的樓梯動線進入,首先來到Lobby Bar,呈現一種較為靜態的空間,並由一道隔音門銜接主要的空間。打開門後,則彷彿來到一座挑高劇院的夾層之上,可以鳥瞰整個舞池,一旁則有一吧台和長型伏特加吧,提供各種繽紛的伏特加酒款。最後,再藉由樓梯緩緩走下才是整個舞池的位置,並以舞台為終點。


互動式裝置螢幕

  「互動式細部是這個設計案中要被加強的概念。」林馬克說。像是在Lobby Bar接近入口處天花板上的投影效果以及男廁外牆上的互動式數位裝置,都是企圖藉此傳遞的互動概念。這個嶄新的數位裝置很難用文字形容,一旦身歷其境,它的趣味性則令人驚豔而難忘。林馬克刻意在男廁與走道的玻璃隔間上,放置一道互動裝置屏幕,乍看之下,螢幕影像只有3個種子。一旦男廁裡有人在使用,這個裝置螢幕便會透過感應,開始由種子長出茂盛花朵的動畫,於是牆內的一個小動作卻讓牆外的通道從一個在普通不過的走廊變成可以駐足欣賞的「美術藝廊」,牆裡牆外的互動形成一個微妙且耐人尋味的關係,更創造出意想不到的話題與娛樂性效果!

無限的奢華感
  香檳3的另一特色則顯現在女廁中,偌大的挑高空間,特別在空間及材料處理上,展現無限的奢華感,刻意只擺放一座豪華的雙人沙發,不僅再現30、40年代的奢華之氣,也讓顧客感受到備受呵護的寵愛。刻意與馬桶並置的小便斗,則展現林馬克式的幽默,無論一般女性甚至變裝癖者的各種性取向者,在此皆能受到一視同仁的高貴對待。林馬克表示,幾乎每一個去BAR的顧客,廁所幾乎也是必到之處,重要性不亞於其他空間,為何不讓來到這種空間也能成為一種享受透過這樣的空間體驗,必然地帶給顧客一種極佳的回憶。

  拋開林馬克擅長使用的復古歐式圖騰、強烈色彩、拿捏得宜的燈光,所塑造獨特的現代時尚感不談。我仍舊忍不住想問,一個經營成功的PUB在空間的關鍵因素是什麼?林馬克出指出,首先當然是不同的機能必須放在對的位置上。除此之外,設計者必須要有幽默感,懂得設計應該在什麼地方罷手。這就是夜店化妝師林馬克,尤其是後者,這種融入空間的幽默感或許是關鍵之中的關鍵吧!

When it comes to nightclub design, Mark Lintott is one of the best. When challenged he can complete an inspired idea that deals effectively with budget difficulties and time constraints. As opposed to Champagne 1 and Champagne 2, the new Champagne club is purely a night club. However it needed to attract Champagne's core (original) customers the "white collar crowd". This club has thus been shaped as a place for total entertainment and relaxation.

Theatrical scenery
Mark took advantage of its double height space and transformed it into a theater-like space. As customers enter they are first ushered into a lobby bar. The space is quiet and peaceful compared to the main space beyond. After pushing open sound-proof doors one is immediately amazed by a panoramic view of the club hall. It is as if one is watching a great show from the balcony of a theater. A convenient lobby bar table and the long vodka bar serve customers all kinds of alcoholic drinks. Customers may then choose to descend to the dance floor whose focal point directs us to an elevated stage.

Interactive screen
Mark states: "Interactive details are one aspect of this project I wanted to emphasize." Projected images at the top of the lobby bar and an interactive digital wall shared with the mens' room urinal deliver humorous animations visible both inside and outside the bathroom. When the lavatory is in use the screen displays a flower gradually emerging from a tiny seed into full blossom. This interesting installation turns a usually mundane corridor into an art gallery. It piques people's curiosity and they are amazed at its fantastic show.

Luxury without limits
Champagne 3 has a very unique lady's room. It is a big space equipped with a large double sofa. Its luxury reminds one of a photograph of early 1920s Shanghai. This cozy ambience can be seen as a gesture to comfort and luxury. Mark even goes so far as to include a urinal alongside the regular lavatory within the individual compartments. This reflects Mark's humor as he thought a club like this should cater for all possible sexual preferences. Mark observed that everyone going to a bar has to take a leak at some point and he feels there is no reason why the lavatory should be any less important than any other space. In many ways it is more important and should be equally theatrical or glamorous to the main club itself.
This club is very different from Mark's previous works. Those well known creations tend toward the classical flamboyancy of a Bourbon Masque as he favored the use of bright color and vibrant patterns to create visual fantasies. A sharp difference has been observed in this work, I think this work will be no less successful. He once told me that a good nightclub design has to be entertaining and light-hearted while making no compromises with its function. This is his formula for a successful career.
