光影露臺 -Terrace Villa

　　園區坐落於新竹縣寶山鄉，離新竹科學園區只有幾分鐘的路程。過去曾是農莊，現在則是環境優美的園區。由於之前缺乏整體規劃，讓園區顯得有點凌亂，但在業主和家人共同努力及維護，園區已有90多名住戶。且超過一半是外國的專業人士。由於環境及資源特別，加上業主細心的安排，園區有著各項活動，讓許多外國人得以認識台灣獨特的地方文化，許多家庭也在台灣結婚生子，繼續為這環境帶來新的生命。

建築與環境之間的關係
對於此案，非只局限於建築四周環境，而是整個園區的生態。概念上，利用規模的伸縮，讓建築在這塊沒有明確劃分界限的土地上，能與地形（topography）具有更為密切的關係。為此，我們將模組結構的概念成功地應用到建築結構系統，從中發展出一套簡單又多元性的模組化空間。
此案的企圖之一是創造新的生活體驗以及空間上的驚喜，加上新的鄰里關係。相對的，開窗手法不只為了通風採光，更為了與建築形體對話。利用建築在平面、立面與剖面的不對稱，創造每戶的隱私與對外的開放空間。

天井和露臺
天井在合院建築扮演著非常重要的角色，它不僅是家庭中心，對空間順序也有一定的意義。當我們重新思考天井的意義和空間上的影響，它具有對內隱私、對外開放的空間效果。不論在一樓或是二樓，它不只帶來空氣的對流，更多的是富有想像多變的空間：其中的牆體和自然的光影能隨著一天時間而變化。
而讓空間與另一戶對稱，主要是希望將人與人的關係拉近。相對的，露臺也具有類似天井的功能，是一個完全對外開放的舞臺。在一樓，天井是串連整個單位的自然元素，也是串連整個建築的重要形體。至於其他六個單位，其中4戶擁有挑高空間可作為公共空間等。至於一樓的戶外空間是由建築體取得私有化空間的結果。在業主大力支持下，我們希望住戶們能對室外空間做出貢獻，進而，在台灣擁有與眾不同的生活環境。在建築後方，我們也推廣園區的“開心農場”，由此可見，這個建築案對整個園區和直接環境已具有一定的影響力。

Terrace Villa

The site is located a few minutes from the Shin-Chu Science Industry Park; once farm land the area is now developed as a residential site for low density residences. Currently there are a total of 90 units of housing there, and half of them are for foreign engineers and their family. For this particular reason residents arrange many activities on the weekend for the new-comers and hope those cultural affairs associated with Taiwanese local culture will help foreign families integrate into life in Taiwan.
Design Concepts:
Integrating building and environment
This project limited to one house pays respect to its indigenous landscape and natural surroundings. This building type uses pre-fabricated ideas that allow an easier arrangement of the building’s body into the site.
One of the most unique features of the building is its spatial arrangement from the site plan to the windows; such as its windows are used not just for ventilation but also offers a dialogue among neighbors and creates spatial rhythm in the elevation. A careful study yielded a final plan and sectional relationship that gives each unit the best privacy control yet enjoys ample visual contact with nature.
Good relationship between the courtyard and terrace balcony
The courtyard is a crucial element in the building; it is not only a visual center but also dominates the spatial layout. The house is equipped with a courtyard that allows air to flow in and out, and it gives the dwellers a void space that offers a moment of tranquility. Light changes in the courtyard provide a pondering sign as if a time machine moves its dial by the position of the shade.
The terrace is a sign of friendship with neighbors; the first floor uses a courtyard to pull all the living units together and the higher level uses a terrace to radiate an inviting gesture. The public space that links different units together also spread from the courtyard to the linking pathways and a garden. Behind the building, there is a public vegetable garden where everyone can plant edible plants and enjoy personal exchanges in this small community.
